What is MOVE?

MOVE stands for motivated volunteer empowerment. This program is a training course for youth in the field of volunteering developed and implemented by FICS. Its goal is to realize the potential of the youth in Jordan to actively work towards improving society through implementing community development projects. The future leaders of our country need to be concerned with community service and seek to fulfill their social responsibility. The MOVE program has been designed to help achieve this.

Who can attend MOVE?

There is a large sector of interested young people in Jordan who are eager to devote time and energy into community projects if they can receive the training and facilitation needed to do so. It is our goal to help them on this path by challenging them to put their energy and enthusiasm into improving their surroundings. The MOVE program is aimed at high school and university students but can also be effective as a training program at the corporate level. Many institutions also have a large pool of volunteers who could be channeled into making a positive difference in their community through quality training and coordination of their efforts.

More about the program:

MOVE is a six-session structured program. The content of each program covers a wide variety of relevant topics designed to encourage and sustain volunteerism. It engages the attendees to participate in meaningful community work. Topics covered include:

1. Realizing the benefits of service and volunteering.

2. Selecting and implementing a community project.

3. Working with children with special needs, troubled youth, and the physically and mentally challenged.

4. Developing communication skills to enhance effectiveness with co-workers and the community.

5. Planning and achieving goals.

6. Cultivating leadership abilities.

MOVE utilizes the latest methods in expressive arts and motivational speaking to ensure a lively and engaging atmosphere for the participants. To this effect each session includes a wide range of audio-visual aids, activities, true-life examples, discussions, and hands-on assignments.

The six training sessions are followed by two project planning workshops. At least one community development project is carried out by participants from each MOVE program. Theoretical training along with practical experience is a vital ingredient of MOVE. To this effect, FICS coordinates field implementation projects for the students in partnership with local institutions around the country.

MOVE programs have been successfully carried out in Dubai, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, India, Lebanon and Pakistan. Many of the MOVE graduates have gone on to be actively involved in their community with some initiating and sustaining highly effective volunteer projects on a regular basis. The MOVE program and its resulting efforts have received enthusiastic acclaim from government and civil leaders.

We look forward in cooperating with you in giving Jordanian youth valuable expertise in the field of community development. We welcome the efforts of the private and corporate sector to further this needed endeavor through financial sponsorship.
